What are the eligibility criteria and exam pattern for the CSIR UGC NET examination?
CSIR UGC NET examination is a national-level examination organized to shortlist students for the post of assistant professor and junior research fellowship. The National Testing Agency conducts this examination every year under the strict supervision of the authorities. Many colleges and universities want to hire the best professors for their colleges. This is an online computer-based test of 180 minutes. The entire examination will be through online mode only. The main purpose of this examination is to select candidates for posts of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or both in Indian universities and colleges. This exam generally happens in mid-May every year. Students can apply for the CSIR UGC NET examination through the official website.
Eligibility criteria:
There is a list of criteria to apply for the CSIR UGC NET examination. The authorities make sure that no candidates are violating any criteria. They will not allow you to sit in the examination if you are not eligible to appear in this exam or fall out of any criteria. Here are some basic criteria to apply for the CSIR UGC NET examination this year.
● The candidate should have scored a minimum of 55 % marks in their post-graduation to apply for CSIR UGC NET.
● Candidates who are more than 31 years of age are not allowed to apply for the post of the junior researcher. However, there is no age restriction to apply for the post of Assistant professor.
● All the candidates falling under the reserved category will get an age relaxation of
5 years. Similarly, there will be a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks for the students of the reserved category.
● Candidates who have cleared or applied for the State Eligibility Test (SET) this years are not allowed to apply for the UGC NET examination.
● Students should have Indian nationality to apply for the CSIR UGC NET
examination.
Exam Pattern:
The complete CSIR UGC NET examination will be of two parts. There will be 150 questions altogether in both parts. The first part consists of 50 questions whereas the second part will be of 100 questions. Candidates will get a total of 180 minutes to complete the examination. Each question is of 2 marks and students can score 2 marks for each question by answering It correctly. There is no negative marking
in this examination.
